All of our jewelry is inspected and carefully packed by us before shipment. We do not work with a distribution center, and our pieces are not shipped directly from the factory overseas. We will need photos of the damaged item and packaging to assess the issue and provide a resolution. Authenticity
Yes, Gem & Jade Co. is a legitimate jewelry company specializing in fine & rare jewelry, including natural jade, lab diamonds, and cultured pearls. We collaborate with reputable factories and laboratories in East Asia to ensure that our suppliers and sources are both excellent and trustworthy.
Our company is based in Los Angeles, California. We operate by appointment only and do not offer walk-in services. All jewelry is available for local pickup and next-day delivery.
We also participate in pop-up markets at MAUM Market, Market for Makers, and Unique Markets. Follow us on Instagram for dates and updates!
We are an AAPI-owned, women-led small business.
All of our diamonds are high-quality diamond simulants crafted from silicon carbide and professionally grown in controlled laboratory environments, making them an excellent choice for sustainable luxury living while reducing your carbon footprint. Read more here!
We offer GRA Moissanite Certification upon request. This certification provides a professional grading report from the Global Gemological Research Association, evaluating gemstone quality based on several criteria, including shape and cutting style (such as round brilliant, princess, marquise, Asscher, baguette, emerald cut, and more), measurements in millimeters (mm), carat weight, color grade, clarity grade, cut grade, polish, symmetry, fluorescence, and any possible laser inscriptions on the stone.
All of our jade jewelry is crafted from natural, authentic jadeite and nephrite jade of the highest quality. Our jadeite raw material comes from Myanmar (formerly Burma), which supplies over 95% of the jadeite available on the market. Nephrite jade is primarily sourced from British Columbia, the world’s largest producer and exporter of nephrite. The carving, polishing, and treatment of our jewelry are performed in our factories located in East Asia. Read more here!
We also offer NGTC certification upon request, though additional fees will apply. The National Gemstone Testing Center (NGTC), part of the Gems & Jewelry Administrative Center of MNR of P.R. China, is the world’s leading gemological laboratory and the highest authority for certifying jade gemstones, comparable to the GIA for diamonds in the United States. NGTC certifications are recognized internationally by ILAC-MRA and CNAS, and nationally by CMA.
You might wonder why jade is often associated with China. The answer is that China is the largest consumer of jadeite and nephrite. However, China does not produce jadeite, as the geological conditions required for its formation are not present there.
All of our pearls are sustainably sourced from pearl farms in East Asia. Freshwater pearls are carefully cultivated using ethical practices that ensure the host mollusks are not harmed during the harvesting process and continue to produce pearls. These practices eliminate risks and minimize disruption to the ecosystem, making freshwater pearls ideal for everyday jewelry compared to sea or saltwater pearls. Additionally, the consistent and secure methods used in their cultivation make imitation pearls unnecessary. Read more here!
Discrepancy
Baroque pearls are known for their unique and irregular shapes, making each pearl one-of-a-kind. The appearance of pearls can be influenced by lighting conditions and photographic techniques, which may cause images to highlight certain features or colors that look slightly different in natural light. Additionally, since baroque pearls are part of handcrafted jewelry, there may be subtle differences due to the artisanal nature of the work.
If you have concerns about the appearance of your pearls, please reach out to us, and we’ll be happy to assist you with additional photos taken by us.

Moissanite has a higher refractive index than diamonds, which means it bends light more and causes it to bounce around more, resulting in greater sparkle. Additionally, moissanite has higher dispersion than diamonds, reflecting more colored light, or "fire." This characteristic allows moissanite to produce quick flashes of rainbow colors when moved, enhancing its brilliance.
If you have concerns about the light or would like more information, please ask us for assistance. We can explain further and provide pictures to help you understand the differences better.

Product Care
It is not recommended to clean jade with jewelry or household cleaners, as they contain strong chemicals that might damage the jade’s beauty. Additionally, you should remove your jade jewelry before swimming in a pool or hot tub, as chlorine can also harm the stone. Light contact with daily chemicals like soap, lotions, and perfumes will not permanently damage jade, but it can diminish its luster over time, so minimizing exposure to these substances is advisable.
OIL YOUR JADE
Polished jade can be lightly oiled once a week using baby oil (e.g., Johnson & Johnson baby oil) to enhance its radiance. The oil helps cleanse the stone’s surface, making it more vibrant. Apply a small amount of oil to a lint-free cloth and gently rub the stone. Allow the oil to rest for 5–10 minutes, then wipe it away with a clean, dry towel.
PROTECT YOUR JADE
To preserve the excellent condition and appearance of your jade jewelry, avoid striking it against hard surfaces. For necklaces, rings, and bangles, be cautious of contact with edges or other hard objects, as this can cause cracking or breakage. Jade stones can be permanently damaged and develop cracks if they come into contact with hard items. Proper maintenance is essential to ensure the longevity and beauty of your jade pieces.
Moissanite is a synthetic diamond made of silicon carbide, renowned for its durability and resistance to clouding. It is the second hardest gemstone on Earth, with a rating of 9.25–9.5 on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness, just below diamonds. This exceptional hardness means that moissanite is highly resistant to surface damage and scratches, helping to maintain its appearance over time.
However, moissanite can still accumulate dirt, oils, and grime from everyday wear, which may cause it to appear less sparkly or "cloudy" if not cleaned regularly. For the best care, we recommend specific jewelry cleaning products. Feel free to contact us for our recommendations!
